People within our local community and throughout America are facing some unhealthy consequences as a result of a few unfortunate situations. First of all, many of our neighbors lack public or private health insurance. Many of them are poor. Secondly, the church as an institution of love, compassion, service and healing no longer has a very active presence in day to day health care activities. And lastly, people in general are in great need of expanding their understanding of health and illness.

Church Health Services seeks to re-involve the church as well as the entire community in a cooperative effort for health and healing. Our logo containing the stained glass windows of the church within the medical cross is symbolic of this effort. Church Health Services conducts clinics for the medically underserved with a staff that is heavily supported by volunteer health care professionals. Whole person health, wellness and personal responsibility are themes that form the foundation for clinical care and for the organization's message on health for the entire community. CHS also works with area congregations in promoting and managing a uniquely designed parish nurse program.

Initial results have been quite favorable. Patients and clients deeply appreciate our approach to care. Clinical staff and other volunteers find significant meaning in their time of service. It seems as if nearly all sectors of the community are able to identify with and support some aspect of CHS.
