St. Mark's Episcopal Church
Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Sunday, January 21, 2007 – the first celebration

"Here at St. Mark's, we celebrated "Health Care Revolution Sunday" last January. It was a great experience for us: to reflect theologically on health care not only as a series of personal choices but also as a community and global issue -- and all in the light of the healing ministry of Jesus. Because of the celebration, we are now entering into a discussion about a parish nurse program; and, we've been given an excellent starting point to think and pray about these issues in a deeper way. Thanks, Dr. Augustson!"

The Reverend Mary J. Mail

"Health Care Revolution Sunday at Saint Mark's was informative and motivational and it covered lots of ground - starting with the basic Christian responsibility for one's own health and that of our neighbors. Further, that good health is more than "not being sick" in that health is a well functioning body, mind and relationship with God. The program has helped initiate more awareness of the needs at Saint Mark's and our community, and greater concern for state and national health policy as well. The next tasks are more difficult, but the Healthcare Revolution program made an excellent suggestion. When the task appears beyond hope, or there are multiple roads to follow - start on our knees and in prayer."
